AMH's Award Winning Laboratory
Scope of Care
In 2004 AMH’s Laboratory was selected by the College of American
Pathologists (CAP) to participate as a referee laboratory. This
is a distinction that has been bestowed upon only 22
laboratories nationwide. As a referee, the Laboratory provides
information to
CAP
to assist them in setting the boundaries on cell
identification. In keeping with this high level of excellence,
the Laboratory maintained it’s consistently high average on
proficiency testing scores:

College of American Pathologists= 100%

New York State Department of Health=98%
The AMH Laboratory provides services in the following areas:

Transfusion Services
·
Clinical Chemistry
·
Hematology
·
Coagulation
·
Anatomic Pathology
·
Microbiology
·
Parasitology
·
Immunoserology
·
Urinalysis
·
Blood Glucose Monitoring
The anatomic pathology laboratory is staffed to provide service
at least 8 hours per day and is usually available by phone at
other times, to all inpatient and outpatient areas.
Over 500 different procedures are performed at AMH:
·
obtaining blood specimens
·
analyzing blood and body fluids to measure and/or detect
physiological or pathological components
·
culturing to isolate and identify pathogens
·
preparing blood and blood products for transfusion
·
analyzing tissues and fluid to detect pathological conditions
High Skill Level
AMH Laboratory services are accredited by the New York State
Department of Health, CLIA, and the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The Laboratory
staffing includes credentialed medical technologists, medical
laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff.
Hours:
The laboratory is open 7 days per week:

Monday – Friday 7
AM -- 8 PM
·
Saturday and Sunday 8 AM
-- 6 PM
